Dartford are out of the FA Cup as Blue Square South side Chelmsford inflicted their first defeat of the season at Princes Park on Saturday.
The visitors went in front on 18 minutes when Antonio Murray got on the end of Michael Haswell's corner and scored at the second attempt from close range.
The lead was doubled eight minutes before half-time when Ricky Holmes drilled home from 25 yards.
It was against the run of play and came just after Chelmsford keeper Craig Holloway had denied Lee Noble with a wonderful one-handed save.
The match was put beyond the Darts in the 63rd minute when visiting captain Dave Rainford netted with a fine free-kick after Adam Flanagan had fouled Holmes.
Flanagan pulled a goal back for the hosts seven minutes from time when he crashed an effort beyond Holloway but it was too late for an unlikely comeback and Chelmsford extended their lead once more in stoppage-time when Murray got his second of the afternoon.
