Life for Dartford without Charlie Sheringham began with a disappointing defeat at home to Truro City in Blue Square Bet South.
Two early goals for the Cornishmen had Tony Burman's side on the back foot after just seven minutes. Adam Green and Andrew Young suffered a breakdown in communication on five minutes when Green's back pass was poorly controlled, allowing Andy Watkins to steal a simple tap-in.
Two minutes later, Paul Goodacre was left red-faced as he sliced a clearance into his own net to put the visitors 2-0 ahead.
There was a long wait for Tony Burman to read his side the riot act at half time as 10 minutes were added on at the end of the first half following an injury to referee Phil Knight.
Danny Harris hit the bar after the break as the home side began to mount a fightback. Truro then had a man and an unused substitute sent off before Tom Bonner eventually pulled a goal back on 77 minutes. Harris' cross was tipped on to the crossbar by Truro keeper Tim Sandercombe and Bonner reacted first to the rebound.
The set back leaves Dartford in fourth, four points behind leaders Woking.
