Manager Tony Burman says he is still looking for the final piece in the Dartford ‘puzzle’ as his side’s pre-season build-up continues.

The Darts held newly-promoted League 2 side Crawley to a 1-1 draw at Princes Park last Saturday to end a tough run of games against full-time sides.

Despite the draw ending a run of three straight defeats, Burman (pictured) remains keen to bolster his ranks ahead of the new season.

He said: "I’d like to add to the squad but I won’t do that unless it is someone better than we already have. I am not in a rush.

"I have got room for someone else and I’m looking around but there are often good players who are still available a week before the season starts, so I am not going to rush in."

French triallist Badr Mekkaoue had another run-out on Tuesday in the 2-0 win at Thamesmead, courtesy of a Ryan Hayes penalty and Danny Harris.

Burman also revealed that James Rogers had impressed him in pre-season and he was keen to talk to him about extending his stay at Princes Park.

Burman said: "I invited James to come back as I wanted to see more of him and he has done well. We agreed terms before the start of pre-season but he was keeping his options open about signing, with my blessing."
