Dartford are "seriously thinking" about making the switch to full-time football in the near future.

Darts are vying to finish as the top semi-professional club in the country this season and manager Tony Burman is keen for them to challenge the non-league elite in the years ahead.

But he believes promotion would be beyond a part-time side and revealed discussions are taking place regarding a move to professional status.

Burman (pictured) said: "We’ll have to make that decision. We’re looking at it at the moment. I can’t see it being next season but we’ve got to put plans in place for it to happen in the future.

"Somewhere along the line I’d like to be in the play-offs and challenging. I’d love to think you could do it (as a part-time side) but it’d be so tough to do. I think you’ve got to be full-time.

"I’d like to have a go at it. It’s a big ask to go full-time but we’ve got to start building the foundations to progress.

"If we have to do it, we’ll do it in the right way and if we have to do it gradually, that’s maybe a step we’ll have to take."
