Tony Burman says the "management bug" is what will keep him and his coaching staff in charge at Princes Park next season.

Rumours had suggested the Dartford boss might step aside, taking on a director of football role, while present Welling boss Jamie Day returned to take over after guiding the Wings to the brink of the play-offs this season.

But Burman (pictured) insisted he and assistant Paul Sawyer had accepted an invitation from the club’s board to remain in charge.

Burman said: "There are always rumours, it happens all the time, but I will still be manager next year. The board have been talking to us and me and my coaching team are going to continue.

"We are more than happy with how things have gone. It is not even near the end of the journey that the club is on. There was always a plan, and we want to keep it going.

"A lot of people said keeping us in Conference South would be a success. Well, we’ve done that, and now we’re looking forward to next season."

After back-to-back defeats Darts sit five points behind ninth-placed Havant with three games remaining, though only three adrift of Bromley, whom they visit on Friday (3pm) before Easter Monday’s home clash with Dover.
