Dartford manager Tony Burman is hoping experience will be key when the new season kicks off.

Burman recently added 27-year-old Allan Tait to the squad and with the benefit of a year in the Ryman League Premier Division already behind them, hopes are high of Dartford making bigger strides this time around.

The Darts boss said: "Maybe last season the players didn’t have that belief that they could do it and maybe the experience could come into it.

"We’ve had a year in the division now and we’ll be wiser. If we’re wise then we should have the belief that we can win the league.

"We want to get promoted and we’ll be looking to gain promotion by winning the league, and if not then the play-offs. That’s our aim."

Tait dropped down two levels to sign for the Darts and fellow newcomer Billy Burgess has also moved down a division to help the club achieve success this season.

"Allan Tait has experienced a higher level of football and he wants to help us get out of this league and we’re delighted to have him," said Burman.

"With him, Rob Haworth and Jay May we’ve got a good forward line and, if we can add to it, then great. But, if we can’t, then I’m not too concerned."

Burman, pictured, ran with four strikers last season but he’s happy with the extra versatility that he has at his disposal this coming season.

He said: "I wanted players who could adjust and cover in different positions.

"We’ve got three very good quality strikers. Ideally you would like six defenders, six midfielders, four forwards and two goalkeepers but it doesn’t always work out like that and you can’t always have what you want.

"We’re still waiting to hear back from a couple of players."
