Tony Burman is prepared to be patient as he looks to land a forward capable of replacing Charlie Sheringham.

The Dartford manager, pictured, has hit several dead-ends after enquiring about potential transfer targets but he is maintaining a firm stance over the fee the club would be prepared to pay.

Former Gillingham, Bromley and Ebbsfleet striker Jacob Erskine made his Dartford debut against Truro on Saturday but is not seen as a replacement.

Tonbridge’s Frannie Collin was among Dartford’s targets but the Angels have slapped a £20,000 price tag on their 13-goal striker.

"I’m looking at a number of options to strengthen the squad," said Burman. "They haven’t come off yet because the people we want are under contract and we’ve got to wait until certain things happen.

"We’ve had some money come in but we’re not going out spending willy-nilly.

"We let Charlie go for that money because we let him go three divisions higher. I was realistic on what I accepted, that was up to me, but I’m not going to pay that money for someone at the same level as we’re playing at."

A bumper Princes Park crowd is expected when Dartford entertain local rivals Bromley in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round on Saturday.
