Dartford boss Tony Burman paid tribute to his team’s spirit after Richard Rose’s injury-time winner saw opponents Newport County lose top spot.
Rose clinched Darts’ fourth straight win in Blue Square Bet Premier on Tuesday night when he collected Elliot Bradbrook’s pass and fired past Lenny Pidgeley to make it 2-1.
The goal sent Princes Park wild, not least Burman (pictured), who said: “It was a great strike and the best time to get it.
“Newport went for it a bit after equalising and left a few holes at the back.
“It worked in our favour and to go down the other end and score the winner just shows the spirit we have at the club.
“Newport arrived as the leaders and they proved what a good side they are but we were well organised and I thought we deserved to win.”
Rose’s late strike lifted Darts up to eighth in the table ahead of the long trip to Gateshead on Saturday.
Boss Burman said: “We can’t stop people talking about us but we just have to concentrate on what we’re doing because there’s another massive game coming up on Saturday.
“We want to try to compete with the elite clubs and Gateshead fall into that category.”
Danny Harris is likely to join Adam Green and Louis Wells on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury against Newport.
