Tony Burman hopes to make his first summer signings by the end of the week after revealing he is in "serious talks" with a couple of targets.
The Dartford boss (pictured0 admits it's a frustrating time of year while free agents weigh up their options.
But with less than a month before the Blue Square Bet Premier opener against Tamworth on August 11, Burman is closing in on new faces.
"A few guys have been along to have a look at us," he said. "We're in serious talks with one or two so I'm hoping we may have something by the end of the week.
"The people who've come to see us have been decent players. They've shown us respect by coming down and listening to what we have to offer.
"Out-of-contract players will have to start making up their minds where they want to go and you can't blame anyone who's holding out for a full-time deal.
"At the end of the day, we're a part-time club and that has to be reflected in what we're able to offer.
"We can't go spending willy-nilly - we have to think of the future."
