A student from Dartford appeared in court over a riot in which a young police community support officer was injured.

The 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denies two public order offences.

Up to 40 college students caused mayhem in Orpington, south east London, when they were unable to get on a packed bus last November.

A patrolling 25-year-old PCSO suffered a cut to his face when he stepped in as youths attempted to kick their way on to a route 51 bus (pictured right).

Other officers were assaulted as they grappled with a large number of teenagers in the High Street in an hour of clashes.

The Dartford girl is charged with causing threatening behaviour and resisting a constable in the execution of their duty along with three other students from Brockley, Belvedere and Abbey Wood.

All four deny the offences and are due to stand trial in Bromley.
