The tree had fallen on the railway line at Farningham Road, South Darenth.

The train hit the tree and was unable to move due to the damage.

The power had been switched off while engineers attended the site shortly after.

Disruption was expected until 1pm, with some services being diverted via Dartford until then.

Southeastern, in a post on X, said: "Current has been switched off to allow a safe access to the track for the engineers. They will attempt to fix the train and get it back on the move.

"As a result, the Sole Street line is now blocked in both directions."

Repairs have been complete and the line has now been reopened.
