Motorists faced delays for hours after two cars and a lorry collided in one of the Dartford Crossing's tunnels.
The left-hand tunnel heading towards Essex was shut at around 10am to allow for the vehicles to be recovered, but reopened shortly after.
But traffic remained slow for four hours, with congestion on the M25 tailing back to junction 2 for the A2 Darenth Interchange.
Police spokesman James Walker said: "We received a report of a three-vehicle collision inside the West Tunnel of the Dartford Crossing at 9.59pm.
"No injuries have been reported. Debris and vehicles involved in the collision were cleared shortly afterwards."
Delays had cleared by 2pm.
