One lane was also closed near the junction with the A227 due to a broken down vehicle which was in the tailback caused by the earlier crash.

Traffic officers were sent to clear both incidents and Kent Police are also in attendance.

Spokesman for Kent Police, James Walker, said: "Kent Police was called at 5.58am on Wednesday 6 January 2021 to a collision, reported to involve four vehicles, on the London-bound A2 near Bean.

"Officers attended the scene and no serious injuries were reported.

"One of the involved vehicles did cause an obstruction in a live lane, however it has since been moved to the hard shoulder."

The vehicles involved have now been recovered and all lanes are open again.

Drivers have been told to expect delays with normal conditions expected around 8.30am.
