Traffic built up on both carriageways of the A2 due to a vehicle fire.

One lane westbound was closed due to the blaze near the Darenth Interchange.

But there was also congestion eastbound due to people slowing down to look at the incident.

Fire crews were called at 6.58pm to the car and spent 15 minutes extinguishing the flames.

They remained at the scene for a further 20 minutes to help Highways England make the scene safe.
