More warehouse space at a former power station has been snapped up despite nationwide cuts by big brands.

Logistics company Logicor has bought two plots in the Littlebrook Power Station redevelopment, Dartford, to grow its UK portfolio.

It has purchased plots 4a and 4b, comprising of 20 units from 2,885 to 6,025 sq ft, from real estate firms Tritax and Bericote after planning permission was approved last year.

The scheme will be known as Logicor Park Dartford and will be built to meet high energy efficiency ratings with LED lighting, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.

The European company will offer a cycle-to-work scheme and a free bus shuttle service for its workers and support biodiversity initiatives with bee and insect hotels on site.

Logicor’s portfolio director, Richard Phillips, said: "This scheme fits perfectly within our strategy of expanding our presence in well-located industrial and logistics areas across the UK.

"The strategic position of Logicor Park Dartford, with its close proximity to Central London within the M25, matches our vision for connecting our customers with their customers and enabling the flow of trade.

"We are now marketing the space to let from Q1 2023 and are continuing our acquisition programme for further, well-located sites across the UK."

The site near the Dartford Crossing is already home to a 547,000 sq ft Amazon depot, an IKEA distribution centre, DPD and Sainsbury's.

Logicor's demand for more warehouse space comes as other big brands decide to take a step back.

Earlier this month, retail giant Amazon announced it would be cutting 18,000 roles in its warehouses across the country but its site in Dartford was saved.

But one of the letting agents of the new units, DTRE, said there was still much demand for such spaces.

Partner at the firm Jake Huntley added: "The demand for modern, well specified logistics accommodation has remained strong in recent months, as occupiers seek to decarbonise their supply-chain and increase operational efficiencies.

"We anticipate that the specification of Logicor Park Dartford will appeal to a wide range of businesses, aiming to benefit from the energy efficient accommodation."
