A man is using a bout of depression to spur him onto a test of mind and body.
Sam Palmer, from Dartford, will be challenging himself both physically and mentally when the takes on the 4x4x48 tomorrow.
Sam said: "I'm going to be running four miles every four hours for two days, a total of 48 miles.
"I'm not a long distance runner at all but have trained solid for three months after suffering with a bout of depression in January.
"I turned to alcohol, wasn't focussing on my family, work or fitness. I decided I needed to do something that was going to challenge my mind beyond measure.
"This will involve extreme sleep deprivation, pain in all of my joints, bones and fatigue.
"The main part of the challenge is overcoming your mind telling you to stop. I'm affectively callusing my mind to push past its limits as David Goggins would say, who invented the 4x4x48 challenge."
He is doing it for Mind mental health and has raised £1,345 so far.
