Pollution concerns after fridge dumped in river by Princes Tunnel, Dartford Park

A woman says she was left feeling “very disappointed” after noticing what appears to be a fridge – or small freezer – dumped in a river.

The household applicance was spotted by Julia Hall while out walking in Dartford’s Central Park this morning.

It was found lodged in the Darent River, under the Edwardian Prince’s Tunnel, close to a popular fishing hole.

Julia told KentOnline: “If you walk round the back of the track in the park you come to a tunnel that goes under Princes Road into Brooklands Lakes.

“As you go through the tunnel it appears to be stuck on something and can be seen if you look left towards the river.”

“From the look of the back of it it might be a fridge or small freezer.

“I just thought that fridges and freezers omit toxins which is why they need to be disposed of carefully.

“It was very disappointing to see it just under the tunnel.”
