Over two dozen groups were sent home to try and improve life for residents in one of Dartford’s troubled estates.

It was revealed this week that 26 groups were dispersed between January 31 and April 30 with over 350 stop checks.

It included four arrests for possession with intent to supply cannabis; five cannabis cautions; one arrest for cultivation of cannabis; five arrests for criminal damage; one arrest for harassment; one penalty notice for disorder for possession of cannabis; and five arrests for shoplifting.

Crime statistics show crime and antisocial behaviour went down. In Joyce Green, crime went down by 34% and antisocial behaviour by 42%.

In Littlebrook it went down 60% and 63% respectively.

Community safety boss Matt Roberts said: “As part of the work around the order, a youth engagement day was held at the Living Well Centre. Youth service providers were present, many of which wish to become involved in providing activities for young people within the area.

“The local neighbourhood team is now working with the community safety team and KCC youth service to ensure this good work is built on further.

“Several young people identified as committing antisocial behaviour have been referred to projects such as Challenger Troop, Fighting Chance Judo Project, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Charlton Athletic youth services in order to divert them to more positive activities.”
