An animal charity is asking people to purchase essential items for its residents this Christmas.
South East Dog Rescue, based in Cotton Lane, Greenhithe , has created an Amazon wishlist where people can purchase items for the dogs in need.
Volunteer Beth Stevenson thought of the idea after the organisation was impacted by Covid.
They hope to give each dog a Christmas bag to open on December 25, containing items such as food, blankets, treats and toys.
Founder of the group, Kymm White, said: "The appeal is really important as due to Covid, we have had to cancel fundraising events such as local shows.
"It is also a great way for the public to be able to donate presents to the dogs over Christmas.
"We have seen numerous puppies and young dogs come into the rescue during Covid as people have bought puppies during lockdown and then unable to care for them as they have gone back to work.
"There's been a huge increase in applications from people to adopt during Covid but as a responsible rescue, we will only re-home to those who can offer a stable forever home during and after Covid and lockdown."
Whilst the rescue centre is planning to provide the goods for the pets over Christmas, its main goal is to get as many animals re-homed as possible.
Kymm added: "We would ask anyone considering adopting a dog to ensure they do their research about the breed they want to adopt and to ensure they can commit potentially 14 years to a dog they rescue.
"Dogs are a lifetime commitment and sadly too many people do not take this into account.
SEDR is a small non-profit organisation which operate a strict 'no-kill' policy. It rescues, rehabilitates and re-home dogs across Kent and the UK.
