Dartford park run in Central Park marks second anniversary with Dame Kelly Holmes

So there you are, warming up for your weekly park run and who do you see next to you?

Those taking part in Dartford’s timed run in Central Park were joined by double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes to celebrate the second anniversary and 100th get together.

Held every Saturday from 9am, it sees hundreds of people, some in fancy dress, complete a 5km circuit.

Youngsters, adults and even dogs completed the free course in the glorious sunshine.

Dame Kelly joined in for a jog and chatted to other runners.

She had tweeted the day before she was looking for a park run to join, and was debating whether to opt for Dartford's or the Malling one held at Leybourne Lakes.

She chose Dartford after learning it was marking an anniversary.

Saturday’s event included: 247 participants, a new attendance record; two members of the 250 club; 23 members of the 100 club; 56 members of the 50 club; six members of the junior-only 10 club; 30 first timers to Dartford, of whom seven ran their first parkrun; 10 new personal bests, 21 different athletics clubs represented, 16 volunteers and one double gold medal winning Olympian.
