A TEENAGER made a bid for freedom when he heard he was to be jailed for 300 days.
Stunned magistrates, court and legal staff at Dartford Magistrates’ Court watched in amazement as 18-year-old Josua Caird jumped the open dock, crawled across the clerk’s desk, climbed on to the roof of the closed dock and jumped down into the public gallery.
He then raced out of the door and into the corridor.
Security guards at the court were quick to respond and, after a tussle, Caird was soon back under lock and key.
Caird, of Stanhope Road, Swanscombe, appeared on two breaches of an anti-social behaviour order, two charges of criminal damage and two motoring offences.
