A secluded estate was the stage of a dramatic chase, after several police cars were seen pursuing a vehicle in the area.
Neighbours at The Bridge estate, in Dartford, saw police cars racing past their homes, as a helicopter flew overhead.
Kent Police and Metropolitan Police have been asked for information but have not yet confirmed any details about the incident.
Speculation is rife, with some suggesting four people were allegedly involved in a robbery in Orpington while others have said a vehicle was stolen and then crashed into a lamp post. None of these details have been confirmed by official authorities.
One person who lives on the estate and witnessed the movie-like scenes unfolding on her way to a neighbour's house.
She said: "I heard the helicopter on my way there. My neighbour alerted us that police were outside our homes and there were loads of people roaming around and looking at what happened.
"I could see four police cars lined up at the entrance of the estate and two others coming from somewhere else. I only managed to see a man being handcuffed by police.
"I was told by other neighbours there were four people being chased from Orpington to Dartford after a robbery. Out of the four, one was the one I saw being arrested."
She said she had been told by neighbours two others were caught on foot.
She added: "I think it all sort of began at around 8.30pm and officers left the scene with the seized car at around midnight."
The 31-year-old said she was scared by the entire episode, as she had never seen "something of this magnitude" before.
She added: "It was all really scary. You feel uneasy and unsafe, especially with so many police cars and even a helicopter around.
"It was a lot of drama for such a quiet area. I've been here for two years and never seen something of this magnitude. It was definitely something big for us.
"I still feel a bit unsettled. You just don't know who can come around the corner."
In a local group chat online, residents described the mayhem unfolding right in front of their homes.
One neighbour said: "One of them run over the top of my husband's car, the police chased him in the same way. So we have some nice boot dents and scratches up the bonnet and on the roof."
Another commented: "The path the car has crashed onto was the one I was walking with my puppy two minutes before it all happened. Crazy how quick things can happen."
