A Swanley motorist has admitted killing a firefighter who helped in the London 7/7 bombings in a road crash.
James Moyle, known as Jim, died on November 22 last year, three days after his KTM motorbike was hit by a Vauxhall Vectra on the A20 in Farningham.
Mr Moyle was later described by his London Fire Brigade colleagues in tributes posted on the union’s Facebook page as “a true gent” and “a shining example of an officer”.
Konrad Bartoszewski, 25, of Ladds Way, admitted causing death by careless driving when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.
Sentencing was adjourned for reports until July 1 and Bartoszewski was released on bail by Judge Philip St.John-Stevens.
Mr Moyle was on his way from work to his home in Kemsing, near Sevenoaks, when the accident happened on the A20 at the junction with Button Street.
The 47-year-old had been with his wife, Kate, for 28 years, having met at Fort Halstead in 1987, and had two daughters, Emily and Bethany, who were aged 18 and 10 when their dad died in King’s College Hospital in London.
A tribute from his family in which he was described as “a loving husband and brilliant, fun-loving dad” was posted by Kent Police on its Facebook page in December.
It added: “James loved and cared for his family and everyone around him. When the 7/7 bombings occurred, he was attending their second child’s baby scan but left the hospital to support his crew and the public.
“James was caring and extremely good fun. Very well-liked and loved in both his community at home and in the London Fire Brigade.”
Mr Moyle joined the London Fire Brigade as a firefighter at Southwark and went on to become watch manager at Downham, near Bromley, and Eltham.
In September last year he joined the fire investigations team.
