A motorist fled the scene after flipping their car in a crash which shut a busy main road for hours.

Police were called to Craylands Lane in Swanscombe following reports a vehicle had overturned.

Patrols attended the scene at around 3.30am today but the occupants had already left.

The road was temporarily closed while an oil spillage was removed. It later reopened at around 7am.

Police say inquiries are underway to identify and locate the driver of the vehicle.
