Love Island star Jack Fincham has been banned from the road after hitting a traffic island in his BMW while under the influence of cocaine.
The reality star, who won the show in 2018 alongside ex-girlfriend, Dani Dyer, was spotted by another motorist clipping a kerb, driving on the wrong side of the road and hitting the traffic island while speeding along a street in Bexley.
The TV personality, who has more than 1.7 million followers on Instagram, was at the wheel of his blue BMW in Old Bexley Lane when a woman travelling behind his car called the police because of the poor manner of his driving.
She followed him for a short distance and told police he had pulled over in a lane nearby.
He admitted to officers he had been driving and even told them he had taken the class A drug two nights previously. He was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.
After being taken into custody, he initially refused to give a sample but did once he was told of the consequences of failing to provide one.
He was found to be over the limit for cocaine and benzoylecgonine, a cocaine by-product.
The 31-year-old was charged with two counts of drug-driving after the incident on March 18, and he appeared before Magistrates in Medway today and admitted both offences.
Rajni Prashar prosecutor told magistrates Fincham, who was described as an actor in court, was convicted of drink-driving in March 2014 and had six points on his licence after being convicted of driving without insurance in June 2022.
The prosecutor added: “It was about 9pm and the witness saw a blue BMW hit kerbs, drive on the wrong side of the road at excess speed and then she saw him hit a traffic island.
“About 14 minutes later police located the car in Leydenhatch Lane, Swanley, where she said he had parked, and he fitted the description given. It was the same model of car with the same registration.
“He was standing at the driver’s side of the car with the door open and admitted to police he had taken cocaine two nights previously.”
Magistrates were also told Fincham, of Selah Drive, Swanley, had 18 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood in his system and 800 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine, a cocaine by-product, per litre of blood in his system. The legal limits are 10 and 50 respectively.
Roger Haw, defending, said his client had been trying to turn on his sat nav system when he clipped the kerb and that the incident happened late at night when there was no traffic.
Mr Haw added: “He admitted he was driving and accepts he took cocaine at least a day before. He was honest.
“He is an actor who had a difficult time in 2021 during the pandemic as work dried up and he now has anxiety and depression.
“He has now taken up boxing and it’s been a success. He has a fight coming up soon. He lives with his parents and is being supported by them.”
Magistrates heard his last ban for drink-driving was within the last 10 years and as a result, the law specifies they must give at least a three-year disqualification to him because it’s his second conviction within that period.
They told Fincham they had no option but to ban him from driving for 36 months and also placed him on a 12-month community order which will see him complete 60 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and £85 costs and he will pay the court at a rate of £50 a month.
