THE body of an elderly man has been found in the Dartford Creek. The man, believed to be Afro Caribbean, was discovered by a member of the public this morning.

Police, ambulance and a specialist fire rescue team from Strood were called to recover the body at around 11.30am. It had been found just south of University Way.

An investigation has been launched to determine the man’s cause of death. A North Kent Police spokesman added: “The body has been taken away and is being dealt with by the coroner.”

Rescue teams worked in freezing temperatures for around two hours to recover the corpse.
