When electrician Neil Corder tipped the scales at more than 23 stone during a stressful relationship, a lightbulb moment appeared in front of him.
He could either continue on a downward spiral towards a probable premature death or get his life in order by tackling his soaring weight.
Neil, 45, turned to food for comfort where the pressures resulted in his confidence vanishing.
After opting to take control of his life once again he made a start on what has become a remarkable journey by shedding nine stone after joining the LighterLife weight management programme.
Neil, from Dartford, said: “I knew it was either carry on as I was and die, or get my life in gear.
“The best thing about losing weight is being happy, having confidence and being able to live life.
“I am an electrician and my job is very active – before LighterLife I really struggled with the physical aspect but now I find myself running around all over the place with no problem.
“My dating life is also better and unlike before where I hid from the camera, I am so proud of my new body that I love posting photos on social media.”
Enjoying his new lease of life, Neil has revealed he has rekindled an old hobby in an effort to keep smiling while looking for fresh ways to have fun.
He said: “Losing weight gives you the confidence to get back into old hobbies, it is really motivating.
“I have taken up drum lessons again and I hope to join a band as I improve. I am also looking into dance classes as a fun way to stay in shape.”
He also paid tribute to his LighterLife counsellor Sharon Hamilton who helped him achieve a more healthy lifestyle at sessions in Priory Road.
Neil added: “Sharon was amazing.
“We called her The Guvnor because she was always on call when we needed her and really made us think about why we were eating.
“LighterLife also educated me in terms of diet and the best ways to maintain my weight loss. I am now far more careful in my eating habits.”
