The crash resulted in in heavy tailbacks towards Junction 3 (Swanley Interchange) earlier this evening, with two lanes being forced to close on the carriageway near the A2 eastbound entry slip.

However, by around 7.30pm all four lanes reopened.

A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said: “We were called at 5.35pm to the M25, between Junctions 2 and 3, to reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

“Two fire engines attended and crews assisted police and National Highways.”

Ambulance crews were made aware of the incident but stood down prior to arrival.
