Grieving traders are hoping to build a memorial to a much-loved cat who had his own Facebook page.

Fletcher, known as the King of Spital Street, had more than 150 Facebook fans and tributes poured onto the site after he was hit by a car and died.

Those mourning his loss include punters at The Royal Oak pub and businesses along Spital Street, Dartford, where he was a regular visitor.

Lauren Windget , 25, who works as a barmaid at the Royal Oak, said: “He is missed so much and he had his own character."

Now mourners are clubbing together to pay for a memorial to Fletcher.
