Festival of Light cancelled

The fourth Dartford Festival of Light due to take place tonight has been cancelled.

The parade through the town centre was due to involve 11 schools from the town and feature about 500 pupils.

Heavy rainfall throughout the day has meant the event has been postponed.

Disappointed organiser Gurvinder Sandher, director of Kent Equality Cohesion Council, said he hopes to rearrange it for another date.

The schools taking part were to include Fleetdown Junior School, Sedleys, Saint Anselm’s, Westgate, Joydens Wood, Temple Hill, Brent, Sutton at Hone, Dartford Grammar School for Boys, West Hill, and Oakfield.
