Dartford boss Tony Burman says his players will be even more determined in the Blue Square Bet South promotion play-offs after the club’s title hopes were finally ended.
Leaders Woking took an unassailable lead at the top with a 1-0 win at Maidenhead on Saturday but Burman’s side secured second spot and a play-off semi-final clash with whichever team finishes fifth and potential home advantage in a final, after their 1-0 win over play-off bound Sutton.
Burman (pictured) said: "I was not disappointed, we knew it would be difficult to try and catch Woking.
"They have done fantastically well and deserve to win the league. We have kept going for the distance and it is a fantastic achievement for everyone associated with the club to finish second."
Burman added: "Finishing runners-up will make us even more determined in the play-offs.
"We got the players ready for this scenario. We have spoken and are all 100% up for the play-offs. It’s an entirely new competition to focus on – like a three-game cup competition."
"We want everyone to enjoy this because this situation doesn’t come around often."
