Emergency crews rushed to put out a fire at a patch of woodland.
The blaze, which spread to an area of 100m by 100m, was discovered on Dartford Heath.
Two fire engines from the county were called at just before 12pm and were assisted by a crew from the London Fire Brigade.
The team from London were sent back just after 1pm while the two crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service are still at the scene.
An all terrain vehicle has been drafted in to access more difficult to reach areas and to assist with damping down.
It is not clear what caused the outbreak.
