Firefighters tackle fire on Dartford Heath

A fire has destroyed an acre of grassland on Dartford Heath just days after another blaze destroyed an area the size of three football pitches.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called at 3.05pm - three full size fire engines attended as well as the 4x4 vehicle.

An acre of grassland was destroyed. The crews were there until 5pm.

On Friday, another fire destroyed five acres just off Heath Lane, Dartford, which runs through the heath.

Firefighters used flexi packs and beaters to contain the grass fire and seven fire engines attended the call which came just after 2.30pm.

They were at the scene for around an hour bringing the fire under control.
