Richard Rose became Dartford’s third summer signing this week, ending boss Tony Burman’s long quest to land his signature.

The 29-year-old Kent-born utility man still had a year left on his contract at Dagenham, but decided to move after boss John Still told him his first team chances would be limited.

Rose (pictured) featured in two of Dartford’s pre-season friendlies but was called back by the Essex club at the weekend due to a sickness bug.

“We have been talking to Richard for quite a while, and have finally done a deal,” said Burman.

“Things have been sorted out to allow him to come, he can play anywhere across the back or in midfield, and we need someone who can cover several positions.”

He added: “It will be difficult to change from full-time to part-time, but it’s going to be a good challenge.”

Rose is a former Gillingham trainee and was promoted to the first team, where he stayed until his release in 2006. A five year spell with Hereford United followed before spending last season with Dagenham.
