Footie fans who want to enjoy the World Cup on the big screen can head to Bluewater’s Showcase Cinema which is screening all matches from Brazil for free.
A Showcase Cinema spokesman said: “Everyone is welcome, from local football clubs to families keen on watching games live in high definition on the big screen, with surround sound and a great atmosphere.”
Bluewater says it predicting a run on large TVs this weekend as people use the World Cup as an excuse to upgrade their home entertainment.
With the announcement today from Currys and PC world that sales of 50 inch TVs have doubled compared to this time last year, Bluewater is predicting a record weekend for technology sales across the centre.
Research from Dixons Retail group also stated that 15% of people are looking to make a new technological purchase especially to watch the football.
Stores across Bluewater are reporting that 4K Ultra HD TVs are the big seller this month with a peak expected this weekend and further increases as England potentially gets closer to the final.
Bluewater manager Robert Goodman said: "Black Friday before Christmas was a hugely influential day for the sales of tablets as consumers took advantage of the ‘one day only’ sales.
"We are expecting a similar impact on TV sales this weekend as football fans take advantage of reduced prices and extended warrantees offered by retailers such as John Lewis and Currys
"With installations such as the LG Lounge here at Bluewater, consumers are having their eyes opened to the possibilities that the latest technology has on offer and the World Cup excitement is the perfect opportunity to embrace it."
Other retailers expected to do well in the run up to the weekend are Adidas, and JD Sports. Adidas are the official match ball sponsors and have seen a run on the official product, ‘brazuca final rio’ which has sold out online but is still available in the Bluewater store.
Other top sellers have been the f50 Messi boot and Adidas are also offering a bespoke football shirt printing service.
JD Sports still has stock of the official England shirt and have created themed footwear and clothing that are expected to do well.
