The funeral of a much-loved Dartford teenager will take place next week.

Hannah Coan, 18, died on September 12 from her injuries after being hit by a car the Friday before just yards from her home.

The North Street resident had been heading to the nearby Circle C shop when she was hit on Heath Street, near the junction with Phoenix Place by a silver Mercedes Benz.

Hannah’s mum Sharon, 43, said friends and family will pay their final respects to the former Wilmington Academy pupil on Thursday at St Michael and All Angels’ Church in Wilmington.

The service will be led by the vicar, the Rev Richard Arding, followed by the burial.

Scores of people are expected and all have been asked to wear their brightest coloured clothing.

A wake will be held at Dartford Social Club in Lowfield Street.

The former Brent Primary School pupil attracted hundreds of friends on Facebook to pay tribute to her while fundraising continues for a headstone.

Family friend Amanda Churchman, of East Hill, is organising the fundraising and said: "It’s only been eight days since starting the group and the total raised is £1,448 – how amazing is that? I can’t believe it."

Visits continue to be made to Hannah’s tree at Central Park which has been adorned with balloons, candles, teddy bears and packets of cigarettes.

The driver of the car stopped and is understood to be helping police with their inquiries.
