Girl crawls free from M20 accident

A MAN and a woman had to be cut free after their car overturned on the M20.

One crew from Dartford Fire Station and another from Larkfield were called to the incident on the London-bound carriageway between junctions one and two, near Brands Hatch, at around 4pm on Sunday. On arrival a nine-year-old girl had freed herself, but the man in his 50s and the woman in her 40s were still trapped.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the pair from the Peugeot vehicle - believed to be of French origin.

The London-bound carriageway was closed between junctions one and three.

Traffic was diverted via the M26, to relieve congestion.

The eastbound carriageway was also temporarily closed as a Kent Air Ambulance landed and left the scene, although its services were not eventually needed.

All three sustained minor injuries.

They were taken to Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup by road ambulance.

The incident was cleared and the road re-opened by 6.20pm.
