A man charged with murder at a kebab shop in Dartford has today been remanded in custody.

Eddie Ives, of St Gregory's Crescent, Gravesend, is accused over the death of Ben Mahoney on Friday night.

Wearing a blue tracksuit, the 29-year-old spoke only to confirm his identity via videolink at Medway Magistrates' Court.

Ives will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police and ambulance crews found 30-year-old Mr Mahoney unconscious when they were called to the House On The Hill, in East Hill, at 11.30pm.

Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead inside the takeaway shop at 12.28am.

A post mortem examination confirmed Mr Mahoney died of head injuries.

A 36-year-old man from Dartford, who was also arrested after the incident, has been released without charge.

Staff behind the counter were thought to have been interviewed by police.
