At the time, it was reported to have involved a Nissan Micra and a black car.
Police are now renewing their appeal for witnesses and are particularly keen to identify the driver of the black vehicle, believed to be a taxi.
It is believed they may have important information about how the crash happened.
Officers also appealed for the driver of a flatbed van to come forward, but he has since contacted police.
The front right headlight of the black vehicle was not working and the flatbed van, which travelled through scene shortly after the initial collision, is believed to have taken damage to its rear.
Neither vehicle was at the scene when officers arrived and both drivers are being treated as witnesses.
Mr Sharp was driving a Nissan Micra and, following on from the initial crash, a further three vehicles collided with the scene. In total, seven people are reported to have been injured.
Senior investigating officer Sergeant Chris Wade from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "The drivers of the taxi and the flatbed van are likely to have known they were involved in a collision and it is extremely important that they get in touch with us to share the information they have.
"We know that were a number of other vehicles travelling along this stretch of road at the time and anyone else who saw what happened, and are yet to speak to police, are also asked to make contact with us."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
