A CHINESE herbal doctor who attempted to kiss two female patients has been sentenced to a community punishment order.

Quing Wang, who was working at the Herb Medic Centre at the Bluewater shopping complex at Greenhithe, near Dartford, was ordered to carry out 80 hours unpaid work when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.

The 57-year-old of Milestone Road, Dartford, was found guilty by a jury in January of two charges of attempted sexual assault. He was acquitted of a third charge of sexual assault, namely touching one of the women’s breasts.

Passing sentence Judge Andrew Patience QC said his behaviour was unacceptable between practitioner and patient.

“I agree with your barrister that these offences fall towards the bottom of the scale of seriousness...I don’t consider that I have to send you to prison but this case is serious enough for you to receive a community penalty.”

Wang, who spoke through a Mandarin interpreter, was also told to pay £500 court costs.

At the end of his trial the court was told that Wang, who is married, was still working at the shop, earning about £18,000 a year.

It was the second time he had been tried on the charges. At his first trial in December a jury failed to reach verdicts.
