A farmer has told of a “heart-wrenching” attack on a pregnant sheep which might lead to the animal being put down.
Roy Glover, who runs Glovers Farm in New Ash Green, is urging dog owners to keep their pets on leads following the incident.

The 83-year-old told KentOnline: “Both of her ears were severely mauled, she had multiple puncture wounds on her head and face.
“One of her front legs has also been so badly bitten and torn that the bone is exposed and the ligaments have potentially been severed.
“She’s in a pen at the moment and the flesh on her leg is all going bad so it’s being treated.
“She’s got two lambs inside her. At the moment she’s still pregnant and she’s eating and drinking but it looks like she will lose all use of her front legs.”
If this happened, the animal will have to be euthanised.
The injured sheep was found by a shepherdess in its field in Ash Lane, opposite London Golf Club, at around 10.30am on Thursday, February 6.
Despite there being around 300 sheep in the field, only one was attacked.
Roy explained: “She had blood all over the neck, we just don’t know where this dog came from.
“She was near a road when we found her. There is a footpath that runs around the other side of the 50-acre field so we feel that the dog must have come over there and the owner then removed them.
“We can’t understand why only one of the sheep had been touched.”
Glovers Farm is historically a supplier of milk and is well-known for its butcher’s shop which opened in 1998.
Roy was born at the site in Hartley Bottom Road and has lived there his whole life.
The farm had a similar incident in December 2023 where several of its sheep were attacked by dogs.
The latest incident has not been reported to police, with farm bosses instead opting to post about the attack on social media to encourage dog owners to keep their pets on leads.
Roy, who is a senior partner at the farm, added: “It’s important to show people what their dogs can do.
“The stress caused to the poor sheep and to the shepherdess who cares for her cannot be underestimated. It is heart-wrenching.
“There was a lot of blood so whoever owns this dog will have seen the blood on it and will know what it has done.
“It is so irresponsible and not only causes immense pain, fear, and stress to the sheep, but the dog is also in danger of being shot if caught.
“This is why we always ask dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead when they are near sheep, however well-behaved they believe them to be.”
