An accident closed two lanes of a key road earlier tonight.

The A2 was blocked coastbound near the junction with the A2260 Southfleet Road, the Northfleet/Ebbsfleet turn-off, at Bean, near Dartford.

Both lanes have now re-opened and the congestion, which at one stage stretched back to Bexley, is now easing.

Police said two cars were involved, butthere were no serious injuries.

The accident had not affected traffic in the other direction, but there was still said to be congestion there as motorists slowed down to look at the accident.

Emergency services are in attendance.
