Queues of about eight miles have now cleared on the M25 after a broken-down van caused chaos for commuters.

There were severe delays on the A282 northbound between junction 1A, for Dartford, and junction 31 on the M25 this afternoon (June 25).

All lanes have been reopened after the west tunnel was closed earlier for about two hours due to the broken-down light goods vehicle.

At its peak, queues were back to junction 4 on the M25 for Orpington with two-hour delays above normal travel times.
