Armed police descended on a town street following reports a person had been seen with a gun.

Officers were sent just before 7pm today after a call to say someone was possibly in possession of what appeared to be a firearm in William Mundy Way, Dartford.

They searched the area with the help of a police helicopter.

Witnesses said they saw armed police driving around near Temple Hill and the emergency service chopper had been circling throughout the evening.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
