Parish councillors are hoping police can track down a man who destroyed a car park barrier causing £1,500 worth of damage.
Stone Parish Council say they have sent CCTV to police after a man was seen entering the car park at Stone Pavilion in Hayes Road, Stone, just after 7pm last night.
The council posted on Facebook: "To the young man with short dark brown hair, dressed in dark blue jeans, a white shirt and dark blue bomber jacket that entered the car park at Stone Pavilion this evening around 7.10pm and took his anger out on the car park barrier causing £1,500 worth of damage - this act of vandalism has been recorded on CCTV and has now been reported to Kent Police."
Commenting on the incident other residents raised concerns over recent incidents involving groups of "young guys being loud", and calling for extra police patrols.
There were also concerns raised over litter and potential drug use.
Stone Parish Council said a new community warden would be operating in the village from September, and it was hoped he could focus on some issues affecting the park.
The council said it was also liaising with youth workers to see how teenagers could be effectively engaged.
A further statement added: "We frequently monitor the youth shelter, which is currently busier than usual due to school holidays. Any concerns or information regarding drugs should be reported to our local PCSO.
"The council wants the Recreation Ground to feel like a safe place for all visitors and is happy to receive suggestions from residents regarding how this can be achieved.
"We are poised to submit a planning application for the Recreation Ground Masterplan, so this provides an excellent opportunity to address any issues and put in additional safety measures. We don’t want to just move the kids on, but we do need some support from other agencies to engage them into more positive pursuits."
Anyone with further information on the vandalism is asked to contact the parish council or Kent Police on 101 quoting reference: XR9GGXFZCK.
