Two dogs were rescued after a fire broke out in a kitchen at a ground floor flat at South Darenth, near Dartford this morning.
Neighbours raised the alarm after spotting smoke seeping out from the ground floor apartment in Montgomery Road at about 10.30am.
Firefighters from Dartford attended and let out two huskies who were inside the smoke-logged flat.
Crew manager Richard Cromety said :"The dogs were a bit jumpy, but OK.
"It could have been a lot worse if they had been there much longer. We just let them out for some air."
It is believed the fire was sparked by a plastic container left on a a warm electric hob.
