The customer, who has not been named, expresses his shock as he films the rats in the car park in the one minute 24 second clip.
Yet he does not appear to have been put off from enjoying a meal, ending the video with the words: "Right, anyway, I want a bit of what they got."
McDonald's said the restaurant has a five-star hygiene rating, adding the issue is being taken "very seriously".
In the video, the customer says there are a "family" of rats, claiming there are "hundreds of them" out the back of the restaurant.
He said: “There is one there on the corner.
“He’s making a run for it.
“There’s another one come out to play.
“Thats two, three.”
He then adds: “They are coming out of that bin shed there.
“That one is climbing the tree mate over there
“There are two, three, four of them over there.”
As they start darting around he then adds: “Look, look, loooooook, wow, look.
“I’ve never seen this many rats in my life.”
The shocked customer said: “After a hard day at work I fancied a cheeseburger from McDonald’s so stopped off at the nearest one off of the A2.
“I pulled in, found a parking space as you do before going in and ordering, looked out of my car window and saw at rat.
“I was shocked, it took me by surprise, it was huge.
“I looked again and saw two or three and as I continued to look in total shock I noticed to the right of my car that there were rats climbing all over the trees, running through the car park.
“Safe to say I didn’t fancy that cheeseburger anymore.”
A McDonald’s spokesman said: “We take cleanliness and hygiene very seriously in the area surrounding the restaurant.
“Pest control experts carry out regular routine checks of the site and have been called out to assess the situation in the car park behind the restaurant.
“Consultation is ongoing and we will follow their recommendations to address the problem.
“This issue does not in any way affect the inside of the restaurant, which has a five-star food hygiene rating.”
