TRAFFIC on the M25 is crawling towards the Dartford Crossing because of an earlier four-vehicle crash which closed sections of the tunnel.

Motorists heading anti-clockwise on the motorway are stuck in queues as far back as junction four after the accident at 11.24am on the exit to the tunnel in Essex.

The incident closed two lanes of the A282 and the east bore of the tunnel was shut to try and ease congestion.

The incident was cleared shortly after 1pm but traffic is yet to return to normal.
