Group Skater's owner Daniel Greene is presented with the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket trophy by David Evenett MP.
After 36 years of waiting, an Irish greyhound has finally lifted the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket trophy after an impressive performance at Crayford on Saturday morning.
Group Skater, who set off as 2-1 favourite, won convincingly by four and a quarter lengths to scoop the £15,000 winnings for owners Daniel Greene, Mrs S Hennessy and trainer Paul Hennessy.
Crayford Marketing Manager, Diana Illingworth said: “It was a great race and the morning crowd witnessed what proved to be undoubtedly one of the most competitive and exciting races ever for this prestigious trophy.”
Mr Greene, a retired minister, travelled from his home in Florida to watch the race and said “I’ve had a wonderful time at the Crayford Track and enjoyed their hospitality.
"Winning has just been the icing on the cake and I’m thrilled to bits.”
Local MP David Evennett presented the trophy along with the stadium's general manager, Barry Stanton.
