JobCentre Plus in Lowfield Street, Dartford, closed ‘until further notice’

A JobCentre Plus branch has shut suddenly.

A sign has been put up in the office window in Lowfield Street, Dartford, telling jobseekers it will be closed until further notice.

It states: “If you have an appointment your work coach will call or rebook it.

“Please use your Universal Credit journal if you have any questions.”

Those who need to be seen in person urgently are being advised to visit either the Bexleyheath branch, which is a 15-minute drive away, or the Chatham branch, which is around a 30-minute drive.

There is also an office in New Road, Gravesend.

A spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions said: “Dartford JCP has been temporarily closed since Monday due to power issues.

“We are working to fix the problem and in the meantime, appointments are able to go ahead online or over the phone with all customers affected being contacted.”

The branch will partially re-open from tomorrow to support vulnerable customers with a full re-opening expected over the next week.
